Spent the morning kayaking... wasn't bad except for the 4 or 5 times I grounded the kayak on the river bottom 'cause there was only like 2 inches of water in the river. Oh, and the time I tipped out of the kayak - my first time doing that in at least a dozen trips. Happened in the screwiest way - I hit a log sticking out of the water with a glancing shoulder blow as I tried getting around it, which somehow upset my balance just enough so I couldn't catch myself before going over. Luckily, I was only in about a foot of water at the time when I slid right out of the kayak... and there was a bank where we could get out, empty my kayak of water, and then rest up for two minutes.

On the way home, my dad and I stopped at Seaside Heights - probably the most fun location on the Jersey Shore. Didn't try any of the stupid wheels or anything to win crappy rip-off stuffed animals, but I was blown away by the sheer number of DDR machines along the boardwalk - there had to be at least a dozen of them, most likely even more. Most were DDR Extreme, but one of the arcade/casinos had a DDR 4th Mix Plus machine, which was absolutely fabulous. And it was only 75 cents for a game! I warmed up with a 5-foot song on Trick mode (don't remember which one, offhand...), then moved on to the 4-foot Ninzaburo ~Furuhata's Theme~ on Basic, and decided to kill myself for the finisher and went for a 6-foot El Ritmo Tropical on Trick, which I've never finished before. But the DDR spirits must have been with me, because not only did I finish it, but I got a B on it! I guess when I want to show off, my skillz get more l33t. I have v3ry l33t DDR skillz for a white guy about 6' tall and 230 pounds. ^_^;;;

I also have l33t mini-golf skillz!

The only problem with vacation so far is the weather - it's hasn't been pretty. Cloudy and threatening rain all morning, then raining on and off all afternoon. And all evening. And then it started pouring, just after we finished a round of mini-golf (I'm 2-0 in mini-golf this vacation, and 2-1 in air hockey ^_^;;;; - that brings my mini-golf record vs. my dad for the last 10 years to somewhere around 40-10). I wish there were mini-golf places in Chicago that were easy to get to, dammit.

Bah, time to get some sleep...
